In today's life we experience a lot of stress. Which can be caused by many reasons but I think that social media is a big reason. Every day you wake up one of the first thing you do is check your social media. You don’t take the time to wake up and take some time for yourself. Even during breakfast most people are busy checking social media. Throughout the day we check our phones about 220 times a day! And one of the last things you do before you go to bed is checking social media. Think about all the time and stress you can save when you do a good social media detox.

A social media detox is really good for everyone. The main reason people start doing it is obviously stress. But you can also do it to get to know yourself better, to help your insecurities go away, get focused on the important things in life and get to see the reality, the real world. Watch out with underestimate a social media detox. It is really hard and it is a challenge to do it in today’s society. But stay motivated and realize you will come out of it as a better person:)
Step 1: Do not look on your phone after you woke up for an our. Take the time to wake up with yourself. This will help you wake up in peace and calmness which will help you to stay calm and peaceful throughout the day.
Step 2: Switch of your notifications. You don’t need to respond immediately when you got a message. When you have the time to respond you can respond then. You don’t need to be confronted all day with what other people are doing, wanting and expecting. You just need to be very mindful and be concentrated on what your doing right now.
Step 3: Unfollow people in which you are not interested at all. When we are honest we actually only follow people just because we once saw then at work or school. Or because they follow us. Or because the friend of the friend of your friend kinda knows that person so you have to follow them. We follow people because it is socially acceptable. Try to follow people you truly want to follow. You will reduce messages and the urge to look at your phone 220 times a day will go away.
Step 4: Remove apps you don’t use. Why only want a minimalist lifestyle in your house when you can do it on your phone too! It will really help with the feeling of overview you may feel like you have lost. Because you only see the things you actually need and use. It also stops a lot of push notifications which is really nice.
Step 5: Unsubscribe from unwanted newsletters. Most of the emails we get are unwanted newsletters. You can easily unsubscribe from them just by clicking on the mail and search for a link.
Follow all these steps and you will see how much time and stress you save. And you will be more aware of the reality. Don’t go to hard on yourself and take it slow. It is just like losing weight when you go to fast you will stop eventually and the old weight will come back.
